What is Remote ID?

Remote ID is a digital license plate for drones, providing essential information about a drone’s identity and flight details. It works by broadcasting data, such as:

  • The drone's unique ID

  • Real-time location of the drone (including altitude and speed)

  • Real-time location of the operator

Remote ID enhances airspace safety by allowing authorities, businesses, and the public to identify drones flying in their vicinity. It’s a crucial step in integrating drones into shared airspace, ensuring accountability and oversight for all.

Please refer to the FAA’s website or intro video for more details.

How DroneSpotter detects Remote ID

DroneSpotter uses IoT receivers to capture Remote ID broadcasts in real-time and pushes the data to cloud for processing and storage. Using our web application, data can then be viewed in near real-time or historically if the flight has already occurred.
